Jazz Vintage

Vintage Style Since 1997

There's no music, but it is vintage...

We began our life in a tiny shop in Sussex, England, many years ago. The concept of vintage was a relatively new idea back then and we were in a minority of specialist independent retailers. But we grew steadily through word of mouth and customer loyalty, and within a few years had expanded to two more shops. We stuck to what we knew and what our customers wanted – vintage jewellery, vintage handbags and vintage furs. During that time we expanded even further to department store concessions in London and our small, but perfectly formed, flagship store in Brighton.

We had always had an online presence, but noticed a growing trend in the popularity of online shopping, and a marked shift in that direction eventually led us to close all but our Brighton store as more of our customers were ordering from our website. When it reached the stage of our customers asking if they could click and collect in our physical store, we figured it was time to concentrate all our efforts on our virtual shop instead.

And here we are...

Vintage Bags

There a number of good books on the subject of vintage jewellery that may be helpful in understanding more about this fascinating subject, such as Judith Miller's excellent book https://www.waterstones.com/book/millers-costume-jewellery/judith-miller/9781845337223 or https://www.amazon.co.uk/Millers-Costume-Jewellery-Judith-Miller/dp/1845335635 all about vintage costume jewellery.

There are also some very interesting books on collecting vintage bags by Kate Dooner featuring a century of vintage bags https://www.waterstones.com/book/a-century-of-handbags/kate-e-dooner/9780887404658 or Janice Berkson et al's http://www.foyles.co.uk/witem//carry-me-1950s-lucite-handbags-on-ameri,janice-berkson-john-bigelow-taylor-dia-9781851495931 on 1950s vintage Lucite handbags.
